SERVICES FOR ELDERLY PEOPLE

Weekly Tuesday Lunch Club for the elderly - £2 per session including food

12.30pm to 2.30pm 

Our core service is a lunch club is for older people who welcome the opportunity to meet together. Although most are pension age, some younger people also attend. They enjoy getting together to have a good chat, companionship, exchange ideas and share expertise in any hobbies that they might have.

Our lunch club have different entertainment put on each week from music to clothes sales to light exercise.

Transport available

Weekly transport to take elderly to Our Lady of the Assumption Maryvale Roman Catholic church

Whilst Maryvale Community Project is open to people across the catchment area of any faith or none, our close association with Our Lady of the Assumption church means that many of our service users attend this church and have asked for this service to be provided.

Transport is available to take parishoners to the 9.30 a.m. Sunday service every week.

Transport to: Hearing & eye test appointments

We can provide transport to take elderly people to necessary hearing and eye test appointments within the local area.

Home Visiting Service

We have a team of trained volunteers who visit the housebound to offer companionship. These visits can be weekly, fortnightly or months as desired.

Telephone Befriending Service

For those who do not wish to have a home visit, monthly or more regular telephone calls are made to members who can not attend the centre.

Hard of Hearing Group 

This group meets at Maryvale Community Centre on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 10.30am to 12:00pm.

Allotment Area

We have access to two raised beds, each of three square metres, kindly provided by the Little Sisters of the Assumption within their grounds. A project committee member has oversight of this mini-project.
In the past few years we have grown potatoes, a variety of lettuces, kale, beetroot, spring onions etc.More volunteers are always needed, and would be most welcome, whether to 'grow your own' or donation to LSA or other groups. Tools etc. are available for use.

Occasional Trips

In addition to the weekly lunch clubs, Maryvale Community Project also organises occasional trips. In the past these have included trips to the pantomime, meals out, other theatre shows and places of interest.

 

SERVICES FOR DISABLED ADULTS

Sunshine Club

Our Sunshine Club for disabled adults (mainly with learning disabilities) meet on two Tuesday evenings a month (1st and 3rd) from 7.00 to 9 pm

The social club evenings cost £2 per session and include crafts, music, exercise and refreshments.

Transport is available within boundary area.

Lunch Club

Our lunch club for disabled adults takes place on 3rd Thursday of the month. Each session costs £1 and takes place from 11.30am to 1.30pm.

Activities include crafts, dvd and music.

Occassional Trips

In addition to the regular activies, Maryvale Communtiy Project also organises occasional trips. In the past these have included trips to pantomime, meals out, cinema, bowling and day trips to Weston Super Mare.

We join the Catholic Fellowship for celebrations including our Annual September celebration at Our Lady of the Assumption Maryvale.
